Bargain Wools & Crafts was established in Mount Maunganui, in the Bay of Plenty, in the early 1970's by Bill & Laura Whitiskie. Over the years there has been huge innovation in the crafts industry and keeping up to date with each new trend and product range has always been a key focus of the company. Because of this, many customers find that Bargain Wools & Crafts will have unique or unusual craft supplies which are often not available elsewhere. There's also a huge range of knitting wools and patterns to tempt the most avid knitter!

Laura, acknowledged by many as the "local expert" when it comes to all things "crafty", thoroughly enjoys her involvement in the business and is a respected teacher of many crafts, including knitting, teddy bear making, card making & paper tole and much more. "There is so much you can do nowadays", says Laura, "and we are learning new skills all the time. Knitting, in particular, is very exciting and there are many ancient crafts, like Quilling, coming back in to vogue now. It is very rewarding to be able to pass on the knowledge and introduce something now to others."
